Participation in the summer school can be recognized for academic credit.
In particular, participation and submission of a report will account as taking a 1 academic point graduate course in Applied Mathematics with a pass/fail grade, see catalog details. Course requirements are full attendance and submission of a report.
The report should include a summary of one of the mini-courses (to your choice), as well as one of the outreach lectures (or possibly a second mini-course. The mini-course report is expected to be on a scale of 4-5 pages long and the outreach report around 2 pages. It is likely that preparing the report would involve reading an article or two to resolve some details of the material presented in the lecture.
Please note – Typically some approval in advance is required from the home institute or units to attain credit. We strongly recommend that you inquire for the local procedure at your institute or unit in advance.
If you are interested in attaining academic credit, please mention it in the registration form as additional procedures on our behalf are required.
